Murray State head men’s basketball coach Steve Prohm announced the signing of Justice Green and Cletrell Pope from Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Green is a 6-5 guard and Pope is a 6-9 forward.
They’re playing their senior 2014-15 season at Tuscaloosa County High School.
“We’re looking forward to Justice and Cletrell being in the Murray State family and their contributions to Racer Basketball down the road,” Prohm said. “Justice has great toughness and athleticism on the wing and that has been a trademark of our program. I love his personality. He’ll be a great fit in Murray.”
“I’m really excited to see Cletrell join us,” Prohm added. “There is a tremendous upside with him. Truly, he has only begun to tap his potential. We’ve had great success in our program with a player of his skillset and I’m looking forward to his development in the future.”
Green and Pope are coached at Tuscaloosa County by Head Coach Curt Weeks.
“Coach Prohm and his staff did a great job in their recruiting of Justice and Cletrell,” Weeks said. “They made them a priority from the beginning and we’re excited that Justice and Cletrell will continue their careers at such a prestigious program like Murray State.”
Green was named Alabama Class-6A Second Team All-State as a junior when he scored 16.6 points and grabbed 7.6 rebounds per game. He also averaged 4.2 assists per game for the Wildcats who were a 6A team a year ago and are moving to 7A this season. Green has been part of 46 wins at TCHS the last two seasons. Through two games as a senior, he has 917 career points at Tuscaloosa County.
“Justice is a high energy guy and a team leader in every way,” Coach Weeks said. “In terms of leadership, he affects every person on the team in a positive way, including me. He handles the ball very well and can score the ball any way he needs to.”
Pope played at Sunshine High School as a junior and earned Alabama Class-A All-State Second Team honors. Sunshine advanced to the state semifinals. He transferred to Tuscaloosa County this fall. Pope had a game last week of 16 points and 21 rebounds for Tuscaloosa County against Hueytown.

“Cletrell is long and athletic,” Coach Weeks added. “He runs the floor well and is a game changer for us on the defensive end. He’s quick enough to guard on the perimeter and he can rebound the ball. We’re a man-to-man defensive team here, like Coach Prohm’s program at Murray State. Cletrell is coachable and is picking it up quickly.”
