Holbrook, Shearer Lead Pike Central Past Belfry in 60th District Showdown

A four run first inning leads Pike Central to a 7-5 win over Belfry last night.

Belfry jumped on Pike Central early scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning. Jonah Adkins got Belfry started with a double to right field and later scored on a Pike Central error. Belfry had a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the first inning.




Jonah Hicks started the Hawks rally with a double to centerfield and Caleb Mouton followed with a double of his own scoring Hicks from second. Trevor Holbrook doubles on a line drive to right field moving Mouton to third. Cameron Shearer singles scoring two runs and the Hawks tie the game at 3. Caleb Compton singled to left scoring another run giving Pike Central a 4-3 lead after one inning.

Pike Central took the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning, Trevor Holbrook doubled, scoring two runs to give Pike Central a 6-4 lead.

Cameron Shearer and Trevor Holbrook each drove in two runs for the Hawks. Holbrook went 2-4 from the plate to lead Pike Central.

Cameron Shearer picked up the win for Central. The righty gave up four hits and four runs (one earned) over four and one-third innings of work while striking out 3 Belfry batters. Jonah Hicks recorded the save for Pike Central. Hicks pitched two and two-thirds innings giving up two hits, one run while striking out three.

Jonah Adkins led the way for the Pirates going 4-4. Luke Maynard and Chase Varney each drove in two runs for Belfry.
