Morehead State Men’s Basketball Inks Keion Alexander for 2015-16

MOREHEAD, Ky. — Keion Alexander, a 6-foot-9 post player with two years of college experience, has signed an athletic scholarship agreement with the Morehead State men’s basketball program. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining and will be able to play immediately.

“I want to welcome Keion to our program,” Head Coach Sean Woods said. “He’s long, athletic, plays above the rim and can be a game changer on the defensive end. Keion is a true center with a very bright future. His potential is off the charts, if he continues to get stronger.”

Alexander played in 29 games at Cowley County (Kan.) in 2013-14 and all 28 contests at Southwest Tennessee in 2014-15. He averaged 3.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.8 blocked shots as a freshman, then averaged 3.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 rejections as a sophomore.

Alexander helped STCC to a No. 11 National Junior College Athletic Association ranking and was one of seven players who signed with NCAA Division I programs. The Saluqis finished 24-4 overall, 16-2 in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association and 14-2 at home.

Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Alexander played at Kingdom Prep Christian Academy in Columbus, Ga. He averaged 17 points, 11 rebounds and four assists for the Lions as a senior. Alexander was tabbed as a National Association of Christian Athletes All-American his final year.
