Eastern Kentucky’s Reischel blowing away competition

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels have surprised a lot of people this year. Considering that the Colonels entered the season with a very young roster and a head coach that had never coached a collegiate game, there were a bountiful amount of question marks of what the 2015 season might hold for EKU. Thankfully for Eastern, they found an absolute gem in Rhode Island transfer Jarelle Reischel, a veteran player who has been the cornerstone of EKU’s success on the hardwood this season.

Though it might be surprising to fans who have watched the German hooper this season, Reischel was not only unproductive and misused in his first three years of college hoops, he barely even played. During his 2014-2015 campaign with Rhode Island, Reischel played a mere nine minutes a game and did not start a single game. Whether it was a case of Reischel simply under performing or being utilized poorly, the forward was thoroughly lackluster in his first three years of collegiate level play.

To Eastern Kentucky’s delight, all that has changed this season. Reischel came out firing on all cylinders from the very first game of the season, and hasn’t looked back. Jarelle is unquestionably one of the most, if not the most talented player on the team and a clear leader on the court for the young Colonels squad.

While being a primary contributor to Eastern’s success this season, Reischel has stuffed the stats sheet in a way few others have this season. He has excelled in virtually every way and numbers definitely reflect it…

Though conference play has yet to commence this season, it should be safe to say that fellow Ohio Valley Conference squads should be very weary about squaring off against the whirlwind of basketball excellence that is Reischel. He is top-ten in SEVEN statistical categories among all OVC teams and is #1 in scoring and steals. OVC teams beware, Jarelle Reischel is coming…
