Morehead State Set to “Paint the Town Blue and Gold” Once Again

MOREHEAD, Ky — It worked so successfully last year that Morehead State Athletics is once again gearing up to the “Paint the Town Blue and Gold.”

MSU’s football, soccer, volleyball, cheerleading and dance teams will be out in town on Saturday, Aug. 15 distributing schedule posters, schedule cards and ticket information. The teams, who will be out from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., will be making sure each local business is outfitted with the latest MSU information.

“Many people appreciated our teams personally delivering items last year,” Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs Brad Smith said. “This year, we want to include even more businesses. The community, chamber of commerce and university work together to create a partnership that benefits everyone.”

Fans will also see an added addition to Main Street this year. More than 50 MSU flags will adorn the poles along Morehead’s business district throughout the 2015-16 season. More information on the flag campaign will be on MSUEagles.com soon.

Morehead State Athletics is also asking local businesses to support the Eagles in the following ways:

>>> Have employees wear MSU apparel or blue and gold on Fridays and Saturday of home football weekends (Sept. 18-19 and 25-26, Oct. 9-11 and 30-31, Nov. 6-7)

>>> Place “Go Eagles, beat (insert the opponent)” on business marquees the week leading up to home football, soccer and volleyball games.

>>> Display schedule posters, schedule cards and ticket information for all MSU athletic teams.

>>> Decorate businesses in Morehead State blue and gold throughout the school year.

Soccer kicks off the season first, with four consecuive home matches (Aug. 21, 23, 28, 30), while volleyball serves it up for the first time at home on Aug. 28. Football’s home opener is set for Sept. 19 with a Family Weekend contest versus Kentucky Christian.
