TULSA, Okla. – Two players finished in the top-10 as the Eastern Kentucky University women’s golf team placed sixth at the Bob Hurley Auto ORU Shootout hosted by Oral Roberts University on Monday and Tuesday in Tulsa, Okla.
After the first two rounds on Monday, EKU sat in fifth place and within six shots of third. However, the Colonels shot a final round 311 to drop to sixth with a 54-hole total of 911. Eastern began with rounds of 301 and 299.
Sophomore Sofie Levin tied for seventh overall and junior Becky Sharpe tied for ninth. Levin shot rounds of 75, 73 and 74 for a total of 222, nine shots over par. Sharpe (224) was tied for second on Monday after shooting rounds of 72 and even-par 71. She fell back after Tuesday’s final round 81.
The 10-team event was contested at the par 71, 6,120-yard Meadowbrook Country Club.
Sam Houston State (880) captured the team title by five shots over host Oral Roberts (885). Missouri State (891) was third. McLennan Community College (908) and Arkansas State (908) tied for fourth, three shots in front of Eastern Kentucky.
Junior Anna Gleixner (229) tied for 21st.
The Colonels return to action on Monday at the two-day TPC River’s Bend Bearcat Cup hosted by Cincinnati.
