MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State junior cornerback Justin Grier has earned multiple honors as the Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week.

A native of Saks, Ala., Grier earned the league’s official accolade and was also tabbed the conference’s elite defense standout this week by College Sports Madness.

Grier intercepted a pair of Stetson passes in Saturday’s 41-18 victory at Jayne Stadium. His first takeaway thwarted a go-ahead touchdown by the Hatters. With MSU holding a 20-18 lead in the third quarter, Grier intercepted Ryan Tentler’s pass in the end zone. The Eagles went on to score on the ensuing drive, while the Hatters never scored again. He also secured an interception on a fourth-down attempt in the middle of the fourth quarter and returned it 40 yards.

Grier added five tackles, including four solo stops, and had an additional pass breakup.

He ranks fourth on the team with 55 total tackles in 2014. He has eight pass breakups and six passes defended as well.

Morehead State concludes its season Saturday at Charlotte. Game time is Noon ET.
