PIKEVILLE, Ky. — After avenging a loss to Campbellsville earlier in the season and taking care of business against St. Catharine, the University of Pikeville men’s basketball team is up one spot to No. 3 in this week’s NAIA Top-25 Poll, national office officials announced on Tuesday.

UPIKE has been ranked as high as No. 2 this season, but after losses at Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson, it dropped a bit before today’s northern movement.

The Bears lead a group of four Mid-South Conference teams ranked in the poll, including three in the top 10. Georgetown is next at No. 8 and Campbellsville comes in at No. 10. Cumberlands remained in the rankings with a win over Campbellsville as well, moving up to No. 23.

Talladega (Ala.) and Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) are the two teams listed ahead of UPIKE in the poll. The Bears are currently 24-2 and picked up one first-place vote, Talladega is 23-3 with seven first-place nods and Freed-Hardeman is 23-2 with a pair of votes for the top spot.

UPIKE, winner of three straight, including 40 at home, closes out the regular season on the road. First up is a trip to Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday to face Shawnee State at 4 p.m. ET. The Bears were scheduled to play at Georgetown on Thursday, but inclement weather has moved that one to 8 p.m. ET on Monday.
