UPIKE men’s basketball “Heritage Classic” series begins Friday

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — For the first time this season, UPIKE men’s basketball is returning to its original home in UPIKE Gym.

The Bears (8-2) will host three games in three days as part of the new “Heritage Classic” series this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. UPIKE will face the University of the Virgin Islands at 7 p.m. Friday.



As of Monday, UVI are the winners of five straight games, including defeating No. 15 Dalton State and RV Life on back-to-back days over the weekend.

On Saturday at 4 p.m., Pikeville will face Wright State-Lake. The Lakers have played a tough schedule loaded with NAIA competition to start the season.

Finally, the weekend will come to a close with a 3 p.m. Sunday matinee with the Ohio University-Eastern Panthers. Eastern currently stands at 4-1 on the season and defeated mutual opponent OSU-Mansfield by 27.

All fans with season tickets will have their tickets honored at the gate. Single-game tickets will be available for a special price of $5 per game for adults and $4 for seniors. As always, UPIKE students, faculty, and staff as well as children 5 and under will get in for free. Concessions will be available for fans during the game.
