MOREHEAD, Ky. — The Morehead State football program took time out of preseason camp Friday to meet members of the media and take team and group photos.

Several media organizations were represented, including the Associated Press, Morehead News, WKYT (Lexington/CBS), WTVQ (Lexington/ABC), WYMT (Hazard) and Morehead State Public Radio. Media members and staff concluded the event with a meal catered by ARAMARK.

“Thank you to all our media for attending today,” Head Coach Rob Tenyer said. “We have been working extremely hard this preseason, and I feel like we are much further ahead this year than we were in my first year in 2013.”

The team gathered for its official team photo and then broke up into position groups for photos. Media members conducted individual interviews during the photo shoot.

Press conference-style interviews followed. The 2014 team captains, sophomore safety Dominic Iori, senior slot receiver Brandon Bornhauser, junior defensive lineman Ronald Cooper and senior offensive lineman Joshua Brunner led off.

“Even when certain plays might not go our way the first time, we always keep our enthusiasm,” Cooper said. “I think we have improved a lot this season.”

Cooper recorded a team-best 11 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks last season.

The press conference continued with senior safety Mike Jackson, junior linebacker Luke Keller, senior running back Rees Macshara and senior wide receiver Cyrus Strahm.

“We put a lot on ourselves as defensive backs,” Jackson said. “We are the last line of defense, but it’s really about effort. If everyone runs to the ball every time and executes, we’ll stop the big plays.”

Jackson ranked third on the team with 72 total tackles and led the squad with three interceptions.

Tenyer concluded the media portion.

“Last year was tough,” he said. “One of our players made a statement though that the guys who want to be here are still here. They are ones who have pushed our other players to believe in what we are doing, and I give them a lot of credit.”

Morehead State will continue to hold practices, conditioning, meetings and film sessions for the next two weeks. The season opener is set for Aug. 30 at Richmond at 6 p.m. ET. The home opener is Sept. 6 versus Pikeville (Ky.) at 6 p.m.
