PIKEVILLE, Ky. — For leading the University of Pikeville men’s basketball team to three non-conference wins, senior Kenny Manigault is the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.

The weekly honor is Manigault’s first of his career, while he is the second Bear this season to capture the award after K.K. Simmons picked one up in November.

Manigault averaged 21.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in three UPIKE wins last week. He capped the week making 52.4 percent (22 of 42) of his shots from the field, including 40 percent (2 for 4) from deep, and 18 for 20 from the free-throw line.

Manigault opened the week with season highs in points (31) and rebounds (13) in the Bears’ 108-71 win at Florida College. One day later, Manigault scored 19 points, dished out five assists and recorded four steals in a 114-91 win over Florida National.

The Ridgeville, S.C., native closed out the week with 14 points and five rebounds in just 16 minutes of action in a 98-49 home win over Carlow (Pa.). The win ran UPIKE’s winning streak to a season-high nine games and pushed its overall home winning streak to 33 games.

Manigault leads the MSC and ranks fourth in the NAIA averaging 2.6 steals per game. He is second in the conference in assists per contest (3.8), third in rebounds per game (7.4) and double-doubles (5) and fifth in scoring (18.3) and field-goal percentage (50.2).

No. 4 UPIKE improved to 15-1 overall with last week’s wins. The Bears, who are second in the MSC with a 4-1 conference mark, return to action at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday against Lindsey Wilson in the East Ky. Expo Center.
